Refugee Relief Poster

"At war's end, Yamana Ayao (1897-1980), long famous as a designer for Shiseido cosmetics, turned his talents to noncommercial purposes. This somber poster entitled 'Donate Clothes for the Returning Refugees, Especially for Women and Children,' designed in 1945 for the War Calamity Relief Society, called attention to the needs of Japanese refugees, particularly women and children returning from China."
