Orphaned Japanese Repatriates
"Children orphaned during the repatriation of Japanese from Japanese civilians from Manchuria arriving at Tokyo’s Shinagawa station in December 1946, sixteen months after the surrender. The youngest at the right carries, in a white sash suspended from her neck, a box containing the cremated bones and ashes of her family."
