Together with the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall, the Udvar-Hazy Center houses the largest collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world. The main hangar offers three levels of exhibits, including special elevated skywalks to view aircrafts hanging from the ceiling. Some of the most famous aviation artifacts on display include the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, the fastest jet in the world; the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima; and the Space Shuttle Enterprise, the first space shuttle built for NASA. The museum also has an IMAX theatre offering 3-D films.
Visitors will have an hour or so to browse the collection before taking a special guided tour. Buses will arrive and depart from the University’s Stamp Student Union in College Park, and boxed lunches will be provided.
