Violin Concert
Children's Grand Violin Concert, Children's Day, May 5, 1949, one of many events on the first Children's Day in the new postwar holiday system. These students were probably trained in new teaching techniques devised by Suzuki Shin'ichi (1898-1998), former professor at the Tokyo Imperial Academy of Music who became world famous in the postwar years for the Suzuki method. The University of Maryland School of Music, Clarice Smith Center for Performing Arts, offers a Suzuki Violin Program which, according to the site, 2006 "works on the principle that every child has the capacity to develop musical ability during the early years."
