DDT Before Disembarkation
By Kitaoka Fumio, 1947. Kitaoka (the artist and subject of this engraving), portrays the trials he and his family face as they are repatriated in Japan. In this last panel of the series, Kitaoka does not flinch from the last humiliation of Japanese finally returning to their country—being sprayed with DDT before being allowed to disembark from their ship.
