Bride and Groom

"In three red lacquer cups, which are exchanged three times, the bride and bridegroom solemenly drink the very light rice-wine called sake; having done this, they are married. Even if the young woman normally dresses in the European fashion, she wears a ceremonial kimono on her wedding-day. But the bridegroom wears a morning-coat." This photo was taken late in the Occupation as the economy was beginning to improve.
