Kondo Tsuruyo

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kondo Tsuruyo in October 1949. She served in this position from 1948-1954. In 1962-63, she would become a Minister of State as Director General of the Science and Technology Agency (second cabinet of Prime Minister Ikeda Hayato). However, few women were appointed to such high office in the years following the Occupation.
