Kuri-Chan Cartoon Strips
Nemoto Susumu, creator of the comic strip Kuri-Chan (Little Chestnut)in 1951 and the father of two young sons, relied exclusively on images to convey his observations of the humorous anticts of a boy, his parents, and his grandfather. The strip was popular with readers, but did not attain the same degree of success as Hasegawa Machiko’s Sazae-san.
