Professor Mochizuki Kazuko, Solid State Physicist

Photo of physicist Mochizuki Kazuko on the occasion of her retirement in 1993 from the Department of Material Physics, Faculty of Engineering Science, Osaka University. Born in Sendai 1928, she earned her bachelor's degree in 1953 from Osaka University and doctorate in 1959. Professor Motizuki was a specialist in solid state physics, especially in the theory of magnetism. She was honored with a Festschrift book of thirty papers by Japanese scientists in 1993. In addition to her many publications in Japanese, in 1986 she edited a book in English, Structural Phase Transition in Layered Transition Metal Compouds (Physics and Chemistry of Materials with A).
