Farmers Reading About Land Reforms, 1947

"Farmers read an announcement on the community bulletin board declaring the start of the land reform in Saitama Prefecture, 24 June 1947. The epochal reform transformed a majority of cultivators from tenants into independent small-scale farmers, boosting agricultural production and eroding Socialist and Communist influence in the countryside (Mainichi)."
