Announcement of Wedding Date

"The date of the forthcoming Imperial wedding was officially announced to Miss Michiko Soda, fiancess of H.I.H. the Crown Prince, in the traditional 'Kikki-no-gi' ceremony held on March 16 at the Shoda household, Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. The ceremony was held in the drawing room of the Shoda home from 10.05 a.m. when Chief Chamberlain Takanobu Mitani, in his capacity as the Imperial emissary, officially informed Miss Shoda that the date for her wedding was set for April 10 [1959]. Miss Shoda's words of formal consent ended the brief ceremony."
