Nakayama Masa, age 67: Professional/Political woman who served as Japan’s first female Cabinet Minister. Appointed by Prime Minister Ikeda to the Ministry of Welfare. A graduate of Wesleyan College in Ohio, she had served as Vice Minister in the Ministry of Welfare in 1953-54.
