Bio: Rob Nelson is the Director of the Digital Scholarship Lab and affiliated faculty in the American Studies program at the University of Richmond. He has directed a number of digital humanities project including "Mining the Dispatch," "Redlining Richmond," and the History Engine. His work on nineteenth-century cultural and literary history has appeared in the Journal of Social History and American Literature, and he has a couple of essays forthcoming soon: one on Spiritualism and abolitionism in a volume Apocalypse and the Millennium: Providential Religion and the Era of the American Civil War and another co-authored essay on the past and prospects of the American historical atlas in a volume History and GIS: Epistemologies, Considerations and Reflections.
