Bio: I am a Ph.D. candidate in English literature at the University of Tulsa, where I am completing my dissertation, "Genre, Sexuality, and Censorship in the Modernist Bildungsroman." While managing the staff of the Modernist Journals Project, I used ABBYY Finereader 9.0, an optical-character-recognition software, to convert scanned images of early twentieth-century magazines, like Margaret Anderson’s The Little Review and Ezra Pound’s The Egoist, into searchable PDF files. In addition, I have created TEI, XML, and MODS records for magazines ingested into the MJP’s digital archive. These issues and files are now freely available to the public and can be downloaded from the MJP’s website (http://www.modjourn.org). I also attended the Digital Humanities Summer Institute at the University of Victoria in 2011. There I produced an annotated version of Joyce’s “Nausicaa” episode using software created by the research teams of Editing Modernism in Canada and Islandora. Currently, as digital editor of the Modernist Versions Project (MVP), I am uploading high-quality scans of the first edition of James Joyce’s work as it was published in 1922 by Sylvia Beach’s Shakespeare & Company bookstore: http://web.uvic.ca/~mvp1922/you/. This is the project I plan to work on and bring to next month's workshop.
