George Washington University Seeks Assistant Professor: Women & Islam

The Department of Religion and the Women's Studies Program invite applications for a non-tenure track, 3-year renewable position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Women and Islam to begin in Fall 2004. We seek candidates who demonstrate commitment to outstanding teaching, research and program development. The position will be shared by the Religion Department and the Women's Studies Program. The candidate will be expected to teach a course on Women in Islam, a broader course on women and religion, and, possibly, a graduate course. Interest in teaching any of the following would be a plus: Introduction to World Religions, Introduction to Women's Studies, Feminist Theory. The candidate will also assume a leading role in developing programs in international and global studies which build on core interests of the department and the program. The candidate must have completed the doctoral degree by the time of appointment. Review of applications will begin on November 24, 2003 and continue until the position is filled.
