I have been trying to find material in English on comfort women for two students who are writing senior theses on the topic. I have turned up a few articles in the New York Times , in news magazines and in popular magazines (Far Eastern Economic Review and Ms.). There is also a film about comfort women (Senso Daughters). However, I am surprised to find nothing in scholarly journals in women's studies or asian studies. Does anyone know of such work that has been published or accepted for publication? If no one is working on the topic, are there reasons for the lack of interest, e.g. demanding language skills required, lack of funding from Japanese organizations. I have two documents about comfort women from the internet. One of these includes addresses for support groups in the United States. So far, I have had no luck getting materials from these sources.
