IREX/WWC Announce Grant for the 2004 Caucasus Regional Policy Symposium: U.S. Junior ScholarsApplication Deadline: December 1, 2003 IREX (The International Research & Exchanges Board), in collaboration with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars' Kennan Institute (WWC), is pleased to announce its 2004 Caucasus Regional Policy Symposium. The Symposium, which is being supported by the United States Department of State (Title VIII Program) and The Starr Foundation, will bring together senior and junior scholars to discuss a variety of political, economic, historical, and cultural topics related to the Caucasus and its relationships with neighboring Russia, Turkey, and Iran. Junior scholars will be chosen based on a national competition. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to continued study, research, and work on and with the countries of the broader Caucasus region, as well as submit a developed and policy-driven executive summary of their research. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Grants will be awarded to approximately 15 junior scholars. The 2004 Caucasus Regional Policy Symposium is scheduled to take place in mid-March 2004, in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and will involve three days of reviews of current research projects, roundtable discussions, and the development of policy recommendations. Grant Provisions: * Round-trip airfare and/or surface transportation (provided by IREX through its travel office) from anywhere in the United States to the symposium site. * Meals and accommodations for the duration of the symposium.
