Comments for TILE http://mith.umd.edu/tile Text-Image Linking Environment Fri, 23 Sep 2011 19:35:41 +0000 hourly 1 Comment on Documentation by Devin Griffiths http://mith.umd.edu/tile/documentation/comment-page-1/#comment-1235 Devin Griffiths Fri, 23 Sep 2011 19:35:41 +0000 http://mith.info/tile/#comment-1235 Hi, I've managed to get an instance of tile up and running on my own server, and plan to use it for a class which incorporates transcription in the Spring. But I'd like to know how to edit default settings in TILE. For instance, I've managed to produce an XML file that loads in TILE, but when I return to the server later, it reverts to the Swinburne sample. Is there anyway to change the default JSON object in my own TILE instance so that it contains my own transcript & images? And could you explain to me where the transcript should go initially; I've looked at the xml output, and it's unclear to me how TILE is effectively editing the data. There is the header information that ties keys to lines, and then the body that associates lines to images again. Is the issue that TILE only adds the vector objects that link text to regions of image in the JSON format? Does this mean that outside of TILE JSON (within XML) that information is lost on export? The documentation doesn't explain how actions in the Web GUI affect to the JSON (or XML) output. Hi,

Comment on The TILE Interface by Devin Griffiths http://mith.umd.edu/tile/documentation/user/interface-load/comment-page-1/#comment-1146 Devin Griffiths Fri, 26 Aug 2011 19:53:56 +0000 http://mith.umd.edu/tile/#comment-1146 I've been trying to get TILE to work with some of my own documents. So far I've been working on creating xml files, but I can't seem to get the load to work for xml documents -- including the xml document I saved out from your Swinburne sample. Not sure how to proceed. I've got TILE running on a virtual linux box through the Amazon EC2 cloud service. I’ve been trying to get TILE to work with some of my own documents. Comment on TILE JSON by Aja Teehan http://mith.umd.edu/tile/documentation/json/comment-page-1/#comment-1105 Aja Teehan Mon, 15 Aug 2011 11:00:51 +0000 http://mith.umd.edu/tile/redesign/#comment-1105 Hi. I have not been able to upload valid TEI P5, or .json files to the sandbox. Do you know if this feature is working? If so, would it please be possible for the team to supply two example files that do successfully upload: one TEI P5 and a .json file? Though the developers' documentation details the .json format, the TEI format is not documented. Without example files to compare to my own, I cannot be sure that I have not introduced an error. Many thanks for your time - looking forward to using the tool! Aja. Hi. I have not been able to upload valid TEI P5, or .json files to the sandbox. Do you know if this feature is working? Comment on Local Installation by jdickie http://mith.umd.edu/tile/documentation/user/local-installation/comment-page-1/#comment-440 jdickie Mon, 23 May 2011 17:12:08 +0000 http://mith.umd.edu/tile/#comment-440 In terms of system requirements, the interface should work on almost any system platform as long as it's using a fairly up-to-date OS and hardware. However, TILE works best on the latest versions of Firefox and Chrome. Right now, our local test version is running in PHP 5.2.6. Let me know if that answers your question. Comment on Seadragon and Djatoka by Rebecca http://mith.umd.edu/tile/2011/03/21/seadragon-and-djatoka/comment-page-1/#comment-417 Rebecca Fri, 06 May 2011 19:32:09 +0000 http://mith.umd.edu/tile/?p=1154#comment-417 Neat idea. We're already using Djatoka with the Fedora-Commons repository; it would be pretty slick to combine that with OpenSeadragon or something like it. I've just spent a few minutes playing with your demo code, and with some minor tweaks, I have a rough proof-of-concept that uses your demo and works with one of my Fedora image objects, making the djatoka calls through the Fedora disseminator.
