A note about deadlines: Academic deadlines are sometimes arbitrary, sometimes not. Deadlines in the professional world rarely, if ever, are. Use this class to begin to deal with the merciless exigencies of the workplace. Accordingly, assignments are due at the beginning of the class date indicated on the schedule below. NO--REPEAT, NO--LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED OR GRADED. If you are having difficulty completing an assignment, we will be glad to help--the work periods are designed in part to respond to this need. USE OUR ASSISTANCE--THE ASSIGNMENTS ARE TEAM EFFORTS AND WE ARE MEMBERS OF THE TEAMS.

This should emphasize the fact that the work periods are just that: you are expected to show up and work on your projects. Roll will be taken at each class session; absences and tardinesses will militate against your final grade, as will using the work time for personal email, browsing the web, etc.

Though this is very much a hands-on course, this doesn’t mean that we ignore the theoretical and critical basis for our work. The reading assignments provide the basis for these considerations. DON’T NEGLECT THE READING ASSIGNMENTS! Much of the vocabulary which describes the various elements of digital narration will be that used in the assigned text. We will call unannounced quizzes based on the reading if we see evidence that it is not being done.

Submit all work assignments (except the term project) electronically as email attachments to, ml26@umail.umd.edu and nr17@umail.umd.edu.
