Starring

Jeremy Irons in the role of Maestro Puccini

The film is a story of love and betrayal and music and passion, to be directed by one of Hollywood's legendary directors, Irvin Kershner.

It tells the romance of an independent, magnificently strong-willed woman almost destroyed by her passion--for opera, and for one of its greatest composers: Giacomo Puccini. The entire action of the film is set in Italy shortly before the Maestro's death, at the time when Mussolini and his thugs were grabbing power (1919-23).

The film is set in the world of opera, but it is in no sense an "opera film." It is, rather, a driving and tragic love story which uses the intense dramatic passion of Puccini's music as a significant element in the narrative. The musical score for the film will integrate the greatest of Puccini's melodies.

The film will be shot on location in Italy in 2000 .
