{"id":20203,"date":"2018-10-08T09:20:06","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T13:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mith.umd.edu\/?p=20203"},"modified":"2020-10-08T15:59:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T19:59:13","slug":"help-shape-a-conversation-about-black-digital-collections-at-aadhum2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mith.umd.edu\/help-shape-a-conversation-about-black-digital-collections-at-aadhum2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Help Shape a Conversation About Black Digital Collections at #AADHum2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Together <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umbrasearch.org\/\"><em>Umbra Search African American History<\/em><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/aadhum.umd.edu\/\">African American History, Culture, and Digital Humanities (AADHum) initiative<\/a> at the University of Maryland are working on a research agenda related to\u00a0vital issues of collaboration and sustainability for digital collections and platforms focused on African American history and culture.<\/p>\n<p>We are planning two upcoming engagements around this research agenda. The first is a working meeting for invited participants, which will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2018, on the University of Maryland campus in College Park, MD, as a pre-conference event for AADHum\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/aadhum.umd.edu\/conference\/\"><i>Intentionally Digital, Intentionally Black<\/i><\/a> conference. The second, the idea for which we have gratefully borrowed from the <a href=\"https:\/\/collectionsasdata.github.io\/\">Collections as Data<\/a> team, is open to all.<\/p>\n<p>We invite the broader community to engage with us online. <b>Please consider sharing a brief statement to help us shape our face-to-face meeting.<\/b> This is a great way to get your concerns, questions, and provocations on the table as well as to share your background.
