{"id":1074,"date":"2010-09-21T10:46:08","date_gmt":"2010-09-21T14:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mith.umd.edu\/?p=1074"},"modified":"2020-10-08T16:03:47","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T20:03:47","slug":"preserving-virtual-worlds-releases-final-report-shortlisted-for-digital-preservation-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mith.umd.edu\/preserving-virtual-worlds-releases-final-report-shortlisted-for-digital-preservation-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Preserving Virtual Worlds Releases Final Report, Shortlisted for Digital Preservation Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two exciting news items from the <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150709192456\/http:\/\/pvw.illinois.edu:80\/pvw\/\">Preserving Virtual Worlds<\/a> project, where MITH has been a partner alongside of the University of Illinois, Stanford University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as Linden Lab, creators of Second Life.<\/p>\n<p>The project has released its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ideals.illinois.edu\/handle\/2142\/17097\">final report<\/a>, 195 pages detailing two years worth of findings from our research, including such topics as emulation, virtualization, migration, archival description, collections policy, hardware stemmatics, Rosetta computing, and disk image forensics.<\/p>\n<p>PVW has also been shortlisted as one of five finalists for the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20151224073816\/http:\/\/www.dpconline.org\/newsroom\/latest-news\/638-2010-digital-preservation-award-shortlists-press-release\">2010 Digital Preservation Award<\/a>, sponsored by the Digital Preservation Coalition and the Institute for Conservation.
