A lot of the "myth" that goes along with robots and clones has to do with creation for the purpose of slavery. This, of course, is addressed in Blade Runner where the nexis six are slaves who escape from their oppression. This type of slavery is the worst kind--chattel, colonial slavery. It seems that the "future" mirrors the past in which man must constantly oppress another for the benefit of his own existance. An interesting subject you address here is the issue of slavery. There used to be Star Trek episodes where humanity was discovered in unexpected places. Those traits of empathy though seem to me to be so mammalian and pre-human in their origins (as are competition, predation,etc.). The evolutionary overlay of the human upon what we used to be, primordially, has had me wondering... in its capacity to marshal those primal strands of empathy, or suppress them--or differentially distribute them. Looking forward to the evolutions of the coming week!
