Lehigh University has opened a search for a Director and Professor of Women's Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates with a social science background but would welcome applications from philosophers with the appropriate methodological and research inclinations. Director and Professor of Women's Studies

LEHIGH UNIVERSITY invites applications and nominations for a Professor of Women's Studies who will serve as Director of the multidisciplinary Women's Studies Program. We seek a distinguished scholar at the Associate or Full Professor rank who possesses the following: 1. an established record of research and teaching in gender and institutions (broadly defined); 2. expertise in feminist theory and a commitment to Women's Studies as a multidisciplinary field; 3. a strong background in social science research methodology. A Ph.D. in Women's or Gender Studies or a social science discipline is an asset, but candidates from all fields will be considered. Administrative experience is desirable, but other evidence of leadership skills will be considered.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a position in a relevant academic department and a joint appointment with the Women's Studies Program, initially as the Program Director. In addition to the Director responsibilities, the successful candidate will continue to pursue research on gender and institutions and will participate in ongoing University efforts to contribute to new ways of understanding institutional and cultural blocks to the advancement of women, particularly in academic science and engineering.
